The former Cooperative House Račan by architects Vladimír Dedeček and Jaroslav Nemec is probably the best example of postwar architecture in Rača. The students of the third year of the FAD STU in Bratislava proposed possible scenarios for its future use during the summer semester of 2026.
Returning to the original socio-cultural function probably has no significance for the future of Rača. The city part organizes events in the former German Cultural House, and the nearby library on Žarnovická Street, which is currently undergoing reconstruction, offers other cultural activities. Where, then, is the compromise between the unique values of this building and its meaningful use in the future?
A sixth-year student also posed similar questions in his thesis; in addition to restoring the Dedečka and Nemec building, he also focused on the other buildings in the Villa Vino Rača complex. The exhibition of these works thus allows them to be confronted directly in the spaces they discuss.
