The students of the third year of the FAD STU in Bratislava proposed possible scenarios for its future use during the summer semester of 2026.

Returning to the original socio-cultural function probably has no significance for the future of Rača. The city part organizes events in the former German Cultural House, and the nearby library on Žarnovická Street, which is currently undergoing reconstruction, offers other cultural activities. Where, then, is the compromise between the unique values of this building and its meaningful use in the future?

A sixth-year student also posed similar questions in his thesis; in addition to restoring the Dedečka and Nemec building, he also focused on the other buildings in the Villa Vino Rača complex. The exhibition of these works thus allows them to be confronted directly in the spaces they discuss.

Faculty of Architecture and Design, STU in Bratislava: Scenarios for the Future Use of DD Račan 2026

Studio Students: Samuel Feješ, Erik Ingeli, Nina Kešeláková, Michaela Križanová, Nina Matisová, Klára Miškufová, Alexandra Sopková, Diana Svocáková

Studio Supervisor: Adam Gajdoš

Diploma Thesis Author: Andrej Synak

Supervisor of the Diploma Thesis: Martin Kusý II.

The former Račan Cooperative House by architects Vladimír Dedeček and Jaroslav Nemec is probably the best example of post-war architecture in Rača.
