Florian Hauswirth

He worked as an assistant in the Barber Osgerby studio in London and in 2007 he founded the famous Swiss designer team Postfossil. He also worked for Vitra. Currently he is an independent designer, working in Biel and teaching in several design schools not only in Switzerland. His work is very concentrated and partially based on local traditions. His skilled craftsmanship helps him to think about the logic of objects. He is a master in classical handheld and digital technology at the same time. He focuses primarily on wood, but also works with textiles, paper, etc. His work is often referred to as Industrial Craft. His design portfolio is quite diverse – he is the author of several chairs, small table accessories, lamps (suprisingly from paper) or a carpet on which he wittily plays with the theme of branding (tagging, in this case burn decorum). In his proposals he demonstrates the ability to think through the subject in detail,  in the way where the form never reduces  functionality and user comfort, but is still able to absorb some poetry and lightness. On Bratislava Design Week, he will present an interesting workshop and an exhibit. Let us surprise you.
