Canel Averna (France)

Within the research of light pollution and signage in urban environments, the studio Canel Averna proposes a series of self-standing signs that work with energy sources that already surround them. Many of these energies are currently undervalued: natural light, wind, mechanical movements, and electricity that the city already mobilizes. Cécile Canel and Jacques Averna, who want to play an active role in moving cities towards sustainability, propose attractive, viable, and respectful technical solutions that use „the most advanced technologies“, i.e., they combine mechanical simplicity, quality, and durability. The cross of the pharmacy consists of a cutout in a mirror-polished steel sheet bent and mounted on a axis. It rotates in the wind and reflects its environment through a multitude of light flashes.
