XÚLONCITY

2019 - 2020, polylactic acid (PLA) with 40% wood sawdust, wood, stainless steel,

rings, brooches

In the XÚLONCITY collection, I present work inspired by the cellular structure of wood. In ancient Greek, the word "xúlon" means wood. Wood is made up of cells of different sizes, shapes and functions, which are distributed in a characteristic way in the trunk and branches. I am working with a composite material, polylactic acid (PLA), which is a mixture of corn starch with 40% sawdust, combined with natural wood. Using a 3D pen, I create "plant meshes", collections of cells of common origin, of the same structure, which are attacked with a colored pigment. In the Xúloncity ensemble, I present nature-inspired jewelry under the microscope.

XÚLONCITY

2019 – 2020

polylactic acid (PLA) with approximately 40% wood powder, wood, steel

rings, brooches

In this collection XÚLONCITY, I present work inspired by the cellular structure of wood. In ancient Greek, the word "xúlon" means wood. Wood is composed of a multitude of units called cells, with various sizes, shapes and functions, which they are characteristically distributed in the trunk and branches. I work with a composite material, polylactic acid (PLA) filaments from the Natural Fibres which are filled with approximately 40% wood powder, and I combine with natural wood. I made this work with 3D pen and I draw "plant tissues", it is a collection of similar cells, the same structures and they are attacked by colour pigments. In the collection Xúloncity, I present jewellery inspired by nature under the microscope.
