Microwave walk It is a collective sound activity that invites visitors to explore the space through focused listening. It is based on an object of modified safety headphones that were created as part of my previous project Neplecha. In this project, they are further developed – more pieces of headphones are added, but the emphasis shifts from the object itself to the shared listening experience.
The headphones are modified by adding an opening, a hose, and a funnel that directs the sound directly into the ear (photo). The instrument thus isolates ambient sounds and allows for intense perception of a single source. It counteracts the usual, multi-directional way of listening and, in a metaphorical sense, places the ear in the position of an eye – we focus on a specific point.
Our attention shifts to sounds that remain unnoticed in ordinary traffic – the noise of grass, water, the vibrations of materials, or the echoes of space. Tiny sounds suddenly become massive (or do we shrink in comparison to them?)
The microphonic walking format premiered at the Kiosk 2026 festival in Žilina.

Microsound Walk
is a collective sound activity that invites visitors to explore space through focused listening. It is based on modified safety headphones that were created as part of my previous project Neplecha (Mischief). In this project, they are further developed – additional headphones are added, but the emphasis shifts from the object itself to the shared experience of listening.
The headphones are modified by adding a hole, a tube, and a funnel that directs sound directly into the ear (photo). The tool thus isolates ambient sounds and allows for an intense perception of a single source. It opposes the common, multi-directional way of listening and, in a figurative sense, places the ear in the position of an eye – we focus on one specific point.
Our attention shifts to sounds that remain unnoticed in the usual hustle and bustle – the rustle of grass, water, material vibrations, or spatial echoes. Tiny sounds suddenly become massive (or do we shrink in comparison to them?).
For Bratislava Design Week 2026, I propose an installation – a subtle structure hung with 21 pieces of headphones, complemented by a video recording of a walk. However, this will serve as an invitation directly to the event; during the exhibition, I would like to organize a few collective walks that will take place directly on the premises of main venue of BADWeeknd. I am curious myself what sound layers we can uncover in this location.
Participants would register for the activity in advance due to limited capacity, and we would then experience the walk, the search, and the game together.
