Humanity exists in an information age that relies on complex communication systems. Key technologies now include those operating via electric current and electromagnetism—such as 5G mobile satellite communication (600–6000 MHz) and Wi-Fi networks (utilizing 2.4 GHz microwaves). The existence of this world was made possible by modern communication technologies, ranging from the telegraph, radio, and telephone to the later advent of the internet and mobile communications. Concurrently, a new sphere of artificial electromagnetic (EM) radiation has emerged; while it affects the habitats and organisms within them, it remains imperceptible to our human senses. To expand our meaningful perception of this „reality“ and raise awareness of the anthropogenic impact of the EM radiation present in the landscape, it is possible to translate these signals into the audible and visible spectra. The installation comprises three groups of objects. The first section consists of prototypes of electromagnetic microphones and primitive oscillators. The second section—demonstrating the presence of electromagnetic fields—features an interactive installation that converts electromagnetic vibrations generated by a smartphone into the acoustic spectrum, allowing the viewer to hear a portion of the hidden cacophony that accompanies life in the information age. The third section consists of speculative organelles—biome elements or plant-like organisms that feed on electromagnetic radiation. Speculation regarding the active interaction and evolutionary response of living organisms to sources of electromagnetic (EM) radiation present in their environment involves a synthesis of elements belonging to the signal-noise biome.
